About Alex
Greetings! I'm Alex, your dedicated teacher. With a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a passion for nurturing technical proficiency and life skills, I offer a unique learning experience. I focus a lot on problem-solving and analytical thinking through the fascinating interplay of coding, math, and chess which creates a strong, complementary learning experience - each one strengthens the other! Last but not least, I enjoy working with kids! I create a friendly environment and always try to connect with them. Over my 5+ years of teaching, I've had students make great progress. I am really happy to witness their progress and their creative coding projects. One of my proudest moments was seeing a student reach a 2000+ chess rating, beat master-level players, and win local tournaments!

In math, I follow the proven methods of Sal Khan, making use of intuitive approaches
to ensure students not only grasp concepts but also appreciate the beauty of mathematical thinking.
I believe in personalized learning experiences. By tailoring examples and approaches to individual students, I ensure that each lesson resonates with them on a personal level. I value the opinions of my students and encourage them to ask questions and voice their thoughts. This fosters a dynamic learning environment where everyone feels heard and valued. While I'm dedicated to ensuring that learning is enjoyable and engaging, I also recognize the importance of discipline and focus.
We set aside time for educational games and activities to keep things lively, but we never lose sight of our core learning objectives.
We will utilize either Zoom or Google Meet, enhancing interactivity through the integration of Google Remote Desktop. Additionally, Google Classroom will serve as a hub for homework assignments and communication with students

Alex is a very talented teacher with great communication skills and emotional intelligence. He understands exactly what the student needs and works on that while keeping the student active , encouraged and passionate.
Alex is an amazing chess tutor! He has a gift for teaching the game in a way that allows his students to develop their own intuition for the game. He really takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense. I have much from him and I am a better player because of it.
