About Rachel
I am a passionate and dedicated TEFL-certified Bachelor of Education (BEd) student, currently completing my teaching internship. I am genuinely passionate about helping people improve their English skills, gain confidence, and enjoy the learning process. My background as an au pair/tutor for four years, combined with my classroom experience, allows me to support both the academic and emotional needs of learners in a calm, structured, and encouraging environment.
I am patient, approachable, and organized, and I focus on creating lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s needs and goals. My goal is to help students develop strong English skills, build confidence in their abilities, and feel motivated to reach their full potential.

My approach to English tutoring is patient, supportive, and learner-centered. I believe students learn best in a calm and encouraging environment where they feel confident to ask questions and make mistakes.
What makes me unique is my combination of formal teacher training, TEFL certification, and hands-on experience with children. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education (BEd) and teaching internship at a well-known school in Durban North, and I also have four years of experience as an au pair. This allows me to support both the academic and emotional needs of learners effectively.
I am proficient in English and conduct all lessons in English.
Each lesson is carefully structured and tailored to the learner’s needs. A typical session may include:
-Practicing conversational English and correct pronunciation
-Vocabulary building and grammar support
- Reading comprehension and writing exercises
-Homework assistance and preparation for school assessments
-Fun, interactive activities to engage learners and build confidence
