About Lina
My name is Lina and I have been a private tutor for over 10 years. I have found that a student may be naturally gifted at a subject and yet struggle with it at an educational institution simply because studying in a large group setting isn’t effective for all types of learners. Many average level students become top-grade achievers even with just one private one-on-one tutoring session per week. Going over the material in a calm, friendly atmosphere, away from the pressure to perform in front of other students can work wonders for any student. I aim to help students rid themselves of stress and anxiety over school work by breaking down the material for them into small, manageable chunks. I focus my efforts into delivering the material in a way that suits the individual student – something that cannot be achieved in a group setting.

Regarding English language study, I offer help in all areas of grammar, spelling and vocabulary enrichment, being able to inspire students to pursue a depth of knowledge and understanding of the subject, regardless of students’ previous abilities. I have experience in teaching students of all age groups and levels. The struggles students of English literature face at school are not so much to do with their understanding of the works studied, but with the analysis of those works. Being able to write analytically about poetry or prose is an acquired skill, rather than a natural gift. Furthermore, while a student is inspired by a given work of fiction and can provide good analytical comments on it, very few have an innate understanding of how to structure an essay or an extended answer in which to communicate their analysis of the work. I’ve been helping students with literary analysis, essay writing and structuring for over 10 years, having successfully transformed many students from merely inspired readers to skilful analysts of both poetry and prose, thus helping them reach their highest potential in school tests and examinations.
