About Emily

No matter where you are, I am here to work with you. I’m an easy-going yogi who has a thirst for knowledge acquisition, being passionate about teaching. My teaching background resides in Primary and Special Educational Needs, meaning that an inclusive classroom environment is paramount. I have experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Speech and Language Difficulties (SPLD), and Global Delay. I can adapt lessons, materials, and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. For three years, I delivered the primary school curriculum in a mainstream London school, teaching Year 5 and 6, in preparation for their SATs exams. I enjoy creating engaging classroom environments that allow students to acquire knowledge and rehearse their skills. Additionally, I have two years of experience teaching the secondary exam curriculum and have expertise in revision techniques and exam skills. Having worked in schools, I know the challenges students face, can anticipate misconceptions, and can focus on common areas where learning needs to be reinforced.

About the lesson

My passion is teaching English, having previously created engaging curricula in secondary and primary schools. I am trained as a UK Primary School Teacher and have tutored students to take their Eleven Plus exams. Additionally, I have taught English in secondary schools, focusing on GCSE and A-Level content to prepare students for their English Literature and Language exam papers (AQA and Cambridge IGCSE). Previously, I wrote briefing papers, research papers, and online content for Parliamentary committees when working in the field of Policy & Communications. I can offer proofreading services, as well as support with essay writing or Business English. An initial free session will be offered to assess your level, identify learning objectives, and determine your learning style. It is recommended that all learners have one-hour sessions to maximise productivity. I offer learners a revision note and vocabulary list after each session. While I teach, I will constantly assess knowledge, which feeds into my lesson plan the following week. By embedding informative assessment into lesson planning, learners can accelerate their attainment at double the rate.
