About Andi
I am a first year Classics Student at the University of Oxford. Although I do not currently study English Literature I have an A* in it at A Level and A*s at GCSE in both literature and language. My current degree is also primarily literature focused and I could use my knowledge of Classical Literature to add flavour and extra layers to a student's understanding of English texts which use classical references so ubiquitously. My knowledge of Latin can also be used to aid study of the English language - however my tuition will primarily focus on literature.
I have mentored students aged between 9 and 15 in reading and maths previously and taught science in primary and SEN schools. I have worked extensively with children through youth group leading, mentoring, sports coaching, nannying and babysitting and am considering a career in the teaching profession. I am engaging and try to make my lessons fun and interactive since students learn best when they are enjoying themselves, and teachers can provide the most effective education to students who are eager to learn.

I provide lessons for students up to A level standard which will differ in their approach depending on the level - I try to tailor my tutorials to each individual student. Particularly for older students (GCSE and A level) each session will have a main topic ( eg. themes and motifs, character analysis, imagery) and we will discuss the specifically chosen sections as well as the text as a whole in relation to this. Once we have covered the main topics we will begin to look at how they interweave and can be applied to exam questions.
My sessions will be mostly discussion based as I feel this is the best way to establish a firm understanding of the text and explore interpretations.
I will need to establish which exam board and texts my students are studying before we begin our sessions - I will be most prepared to tutor texts I have studied myself and will have more extensive notes and materials for these.
