About Anastasia

I am a graduate medical student at Cambridge with an undergraduate degree in Law from Oxford. This unique combination of disciplines has equipped me with accurate, first-hand and current knowledge about the admissions processes to both courses at both institutions.

An experienced tutor, I have successfully coached UK and international candidates through all stages Law and Medicine entry both formally and informally. I have several years of experience working for various tutoring agencies where I have seen students succeed in gaining entry to Oxford, Cambridge and Medical schools around the UK. Further, I have since 2015 volunteered at local schools and with University Access Schemes, where I’ve conducted many mock interviews, marked essays and led seminars. I have received outstanding feedback from students and employers based upon my enthusiasm, drive to go above and beyond, and student outcomes.

I really enjoy working with students who show keen interest in their subject and are willing to learn. It doesn’t matter whether you are terrified at the thought of interview or consider yourself a champion debater. It doesn’t matter if you’ve wanted to be a doctor for as long as you remember, or if you aren’t yet entirely sure whether medicine is for you. I understand acutely the challenges of applying to university from a comprehensive school, or one which doesn't focus on competitive university admissions. Whatever background you come from, I hope to expose you to exciting university topics, improve your admissions test scores, challenge your interview responses and guide you to success.

On a personal note, my decision to study medicine as a law graduate was based on sustained exposure to diverse healthcare environments and in-depth study of Medical Law and Ethics. I had long considered pursuing the career, having deliberately secured chemistry A-level to keep the door open, but only at a later age decided to apply. Having successfully applied to both Oxford for Law, and Cambridge for Medicine from a UK comprehensive school, I now consider myself very well versed in top-tier admissions processes.

I offer Oxbridge and University admissions tutoring for Medicine, including preparation for all areas of the admissions process: (i) panel and MMI interview (ii) UCAT and BMAT (iii) personal statement and (iv) supra-curricular work. I also teach Biology GCSE and A-Level, as well as first- and second- year medicine topics.

My method is very individualistic; lessons are specifically tailored to meet individual needs and place emphasis on areas of weakness. With over 1000 hours of tutoring experience I have endeavoured that no two lessons are the same.

I engage in continuous feedback with my students to ensure that lessons are meeting expectations and to give opportunity for revising the curriculum. My lessons are interactive – a conversation not a lecture – and aim to build skills in communication, expression and independent thought throughout.

Discussions with tutors over the years have provided excellent insight into what constitutes a successful candidate. I regularly draw on this expertise to emphasise understanding of high yield topics. I am competent and up to date in core preclinical science and fourth year clinical knowledge. Further, crucially, I am highly acquainted with the broader clinical concepts of professionalism, empathy and decision-making upon which interviewers so often place emphasis.
