About Maia
I’m a guitar tutor with over 2 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz, where I specialised as a Guitar Principal. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar, focusing on skills needed for film scoring and video game soundtracks. My lessons explore atmospheric textures, thematic development, and sound design, helping students create rich musical landscapes. I also incorporate digital audio workstations (DAWs) into our work to give students hands-on experience with modern music production tools. I tailor my teaching to meet the needs of both youth and adult learners who want to dive into media composition. My student-centred approach means we move at your pace and focus on your creative goals. Whether you’re just starting or looking to sharpen your skills, I’m here to guide you. My teaching approach for guitar combines creativity with clear structure. I focus on songwriting, lyrical composition, chord progression choices, and arranging acoustic pieces. I believe music is a way to tell your story. So, I encourage students to bring their ideas and feelings to the lessons. I help them shape these ideas into full songs. My lessons balance fun creativity with musical theory. I am skilled at working with those who love blues and aspiring rock stars. I guide them in turning their riffs and lyrics into original songs. We work on expressing emotions clearly through music. I also focus on building strong guitar skills that support songwriting. I encourage regular practice and reflection. Technology and recording tools are part of our lessons. Together, we craft your musical stories and grow your unique voice. Let’s make your music come alive.
