About James
I am a professionally certificated and licensed Special Education Teacher with 10 years of experience teaching reading and phonics. Lessons are given at the student’s ability level. Pacing is tailored to the individual. There are 3 levels in Phonics For Reading. This is a very effective phonics program. 45-60 minutes per lesson is recommended, 30 minutes per session is also acceptable. This program is mainly used with elementary students but it can also be used with adults to learn how to read.

Enjoy tutoring from the convenience of your own home. I will need to give your student a placement test to find out which level your student will start at. Then I will send you a phonics for reading packet to your address. This is a research-based phonics program that has proven results. Results will vary with each student but I have seen my students go from not reading to reading on up to grade level for some when enough time is given to learn the text. I recommend reading 3 sessions per week for best results. The lessons involve decoding words, vocabulary, reading, comprehension, and spelling. For ESL we will be using levels 1-5 in the Rosetta Stone curriculum.
