About Nathália
I'm from Brazil and I'm currently living in the state of São Paulo.
Learning other languages has always been a passion for me and, throughout the years, I had the opportunity to learn English, Spanish, French, Italian and German. I also love being in contact with foreigners, and I was able to do that when I was an exchange student for a month in California, EUA, took a Spanish course in Córdoba, Argentina, and then later attended university in Madrid, Spain. It was there that I started teaching Portuguese to foreigners, which I did for over a year, and really enjoyed it!
Because I've been a learner of other languages for so many years myself, I know exactly what it feels like to take up this challenge, and how challenging it can be, but also fun and exciting!
Apart from what I've already told you about me, I studied International Relations and Financial Management at Brazilian universities and English at a university in Madrid, Spain. I also worked for 8 years at IBM, and I'm currently taking a course called Data Science and Machine Learning: Making Data-Driven Decisions from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). I'm also an English-Portuguese translator, and got my certificate from the respected school Daniel Brilhante de Brito, which is an independent Translation and Interpreting School approved by the American Translators Association (ATA).

About the lesson

- I use a well-known book called Muito Prazer, which introduces vocabulary and grammar, apart from helping with speaking and listening skills. A pdf of each lesson will be provided before each class.
- Also in every class the student will be presented with scenes from movies/series, songs or texts, to further expand vocabulary, expressions and overall knowledge of the language and culture.
- The student will be given exercises that he can do after class to practise, which are not mandatory, given that many people may have a busy life or are just not interested, but doing the exercises will definitely be encouraged.
- Classes can be taught in English or Spanish, according to the learner's wish, especially if they're beginners. For more advanced students, the class can be taught in Portuguese.
- I'll be available 24/7 (except for sleeping hours =) ) to help the students with any questions regarding the exercises or with any doubts they may have regarding Portuguese or Brazil.
Being a language learner myself, I've come to realize that grammar is an important part of language learning, since it sets a solid foundation for learners to expand their knowledge of other areas such as vocabulary, everyday phrases and being able to speak with confidence. But I'm also a firm believer that watching movies/series, listening to songs and reading texts in the language you're learning is an integral part of language learning, and should be done at the beginning.
What I can guarantee is that I'll teach a class that I would like to attend!
