About Melanie
I am a British national working with the wonderful Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich, Germany. I however travel to, work and teach in the UK on a regular basis.
I have previously held solo oboe positions in other German orchestras, and have a wealth of experience guesting in orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia, amongst many others across Europe. As a soloist I have worked with orchestras such as the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
I have had success in several international competitions such as the Gillet-Fox International Oboe Competition (1st prize) and the International Tchaikovsky Competition (woodwind semi-finalist).
I hold a bachelor degree in performance from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique de Paris (CNSMDP), a masters in performance from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, a masters in contemporary classical music from the International Ensemble Modern Academy/HfMDK Frankfurt and a soloist diploma from the HDMK Stuttgart.

I offer one-off or more regular lessons for advanced young players, conservatory students, graduates or professionals.
I mostly teach online, however I am in UK (Surrey/London and sometimes also the NE) a few times a year, so it is also possible to meet me in person either at a member of my family's home, at your residence or rehearsal space. Please message me to arrange this in advance.
I am able to help clients with audition preparation, competition preparation, orchestral excerpts, extended techniques for contemporary music, playing in appropriate historical style, advanced oboe technique, solo repertoire, chamber repertoire and support with reeds.
I have experience teaching people of all ages and levels on a private basis and in masterclasses. I personally prefer to teach advanced players as we can discuss and explore music in more depth.
