NEW YORK CITY VOICE INSTRUCTOR!
Hi!! I am Bourque Simmons. A fully trained singer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I knew when I was 3 I was supposed to be a singer, something just informed me! I know where I was at that moment!! It wasn't though until I was in grade 7 when the music teacher Ms J called my Mom saying I needed singing lessons.'Why we always thought she sounded great' Mom replied. 'She could be truly something with lessons' replied Ms J. So lessons started! And I loved them, and I was good.
I continued on with University, Bachelor of Music UVic. Two years of studying privately/l'Universitie de Trois Riviers in Montreal/Trois Riviers, Quebec.with Marie Davleuy Studied French at l'Universitie de Montreal. Next with a Rotary Scholarship I went to St. Louis Conservatory of Music to study with Edward Zambara and received a Graduate Diploma in Voice production. Mr Z moved to teach at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, so did I!
There, I received my Master of Music in Voice.
It was years later, doing auditions and too many nights of over night shifts that I decided to take teaching seriously.
Singing with old time teachers could sometimes be down right hard on ones confidence, I decided it was incredibly important to reach out to students in a much kinder manner and let them know and understand what their bodies can do. Growing a singing voice is possible and exciting and can be done with confidence!!

About the lesson

It is important to start with an open mind. To sing well you will need an open slate. We will do some stretches, open your body so you will be able to make great sounds.
Breathing,
Scales/techniques (I will talk/explain/demonstrate). Then you will do it with me.
The last 10-15 min of the lesson you will sing a song of your choice/language so you can feel comfortable with me and singing.
A big part of my lessons is opening up the student so they feel comfortable, are not nervous and a ready to produce and enjoy singing. I have had students from age 5 - 79. Beginner to professional! As long as a student is ready and willing to work they will and can sing.
