About Rachel
I obtained my PhD in neuroscience in '21 where I completed my dissertation on neuroendocrine disruption. While in graduate school, I taught Anatomy and Physiology, consistently being named to the List of Teachers Ranked Excellent by their Students. I take pride in having been asked to write letters of recommendation for several students to apply to graduate school, reaffirming that these students trust our working relationship and my potential to help them succeed in the next step of their career.
Prior to graduate school, I served as a foreign-language tutor for middle school school students whose learning styles required individualized attention. I have also tutored college-level chemistry and lead a religious studies classroom of elementary schoolers.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University in New York City where I study epigenetics and neurodegenerative disease. I think a lot about pedagogy and how to best serve learners and I'm excited about the prospect of helping you!

I'm interested in tailoring lessons to what works best for the student! I have spent my entire career in academia and seen so many approaches to learning. We all have different methods that click with us; what works best for one student might not work for another. Having worked with a range of students, in a range of roles, I prefer to be responsive to their needs and comforts. In my experience, I have found people will often learn to fear speaking up in the classroom when a lesson is not resonating and it's very important to me that students don't have any reason to fear learning. I look forward to speaking with you about I can be of help!
