About Ingrid

Hello! Hi, I'm Ingrid!

I'm a passionate educator from the beautiful coastal city of Durban, with over 15 years of experience in adult training and development. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of helping people build skills, grow in confidence, and achieve their goals—and there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing that moment when learning "clicks."

Today, I'm excited to bring that same enthusiasm and experience to younger learners. As a native Afrikaans speaker, I'm passionate about helping children develop a strong foundation in Afrikaans while creating a positive, encouraging environment where they feel confident to learn, participate, and succeed.

My lessons are interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student's needs. I believe that children learn best when they are actively involved, having fun, and feeling supported every step of the way. Whether your child needs extra support, wants to improve their marks, or simply gain confidence in the language, I'm here to help them reach their full potential.

Beyond teaching, I'm a creative at heart. I love drawing and painting, and I often incorporate creativity into my lessons to make learning more enjoyable and memorable. My goal is not only to teach Afrikaans but also to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in adult development and training—a journey that has brought me immense fulfillment. There's nothing more rewarding than helping students grow, gain confidence, and succeed in their chosen paths. Now, I’m excited to extend that passion by guiding young learners as well. My goal is to spark a love for Afrikaans—my native language—and to make learning it both fun and meaningful. I believe that with the right support, every child can thrive and discover the joy of language. In addition to teaching, I have a deep love for the arts. Drawing and painting are a significant part of my life, and I often find inspiration with a sketchbook and pencil in hand. I believe that creativity plays a vital role in education, and I enjoy bringing that artistic spirit into my teaching whenever possible.

About the lesson

Afrikaans doesn't have to be boring! My lessons are interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student's individual needs. Through games, discussions, creative activities, and practical language exercises, I help students build confidence while developing strong language skills. Whether your goal is better school results, improved fluency, or exam preparation, I create a supportive learning environment where students feel motivated, challenged, and excited to learn

He also expressed an interest in incorporating Business Afrikaans and elements of South African social studies into his lessons.

I thoroughly enjoyed our lesson together and found Isaac to be a respectful young man with a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn. He participated well and showed enthusiasm throughout the session, which made the lesson both enjoyable and rewarding.

I set up a meet and greet with his son and also did a free trial lesson. We have proceeded to set up tutoring times. Communication is clear. It was a pleasure dealing with Neville
