About Mary
I am Mary, and I live in Nyeri in central Kenya. I grew up speaking Swahili and Kikuyu at home with my family. I love languages. I have been helping foreigners around Nyeri and Nairobi for more than 2 years, since I was living in those places. I enjoy it a lot when I am helping a foreigner learn Swahili. I am not a strict school teacher. I am friendly, I listen, and I explain slowly. If you want to learn Swahili in a relaxed way, with a real Kenyan friend, I am here. Karibu!

Hi, I am Mary from Nyeri. Swahili is my first laguage, i speak it at home every day. I started teaching my neighbour from Germany last year, who wanted to talk to her boda guy and mama mboga. She now bargains in the market herself! My lessons are simple. We use WhatsApp voice notes, not Zoom. I send you a short lesson,n like how to greet or buy tomatoes; s, you try speaking, and I correct you slowly. You can replay my voice anytime. I am a patient person, and I laugh a lot. I will teach you real street Swahili, not the big-book words. If you want to visit Kenya or your partner is a Kenyan, I can help you. Let's talk.
