About YOUSSEF

Hello! I’m Youssef, a native and certified French teacher with over five years of experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds in several countries.
After graduating in Political Science in Montreal and studying Art in France, I built my path around two great passions: artistic work and teaching.
Besides dedicating myself to theater directing, I have found in teaching a form of creation: sharing a language is opening a living space for thought and expression.
I have worked in schools, universities, companies, and cultural projects, delivering French lessons and theater workshops.
My profile is a bridge between language, art, and life. I don’t teach just grammar: I create spaces where thinking, feeling, and speaking in French becomes something alive. With structure, with pleasure, with purpose.

I offer two types of courses tailored to my students’ needs:
A structured program for beginners or those looking to strengthen their foundations, with clear objectives and rigorous follow-up. And conversational classes for intermediate or advanced students who want to expand their skills through cultural exchanges and diverse topics.

After an initial evaluation and mutual introduction session, I develop a customized strategy for the upcoming courses.

1-For students who want to learn French from scratch or reinforce their basics, I assess their level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, etc.). From there, I propose a clear schedule with well-defined stages, concrete goals, and estimated progress dates. I also provide all the necessary teaching materials online: exercise books, audio resources, interactive tools, and end-of-level tests.

2- For conversational classes, I identify the student’s interests and needs and research to enrich sessions with engaging texts, stimulating conversation topics, audiovisual materials, etc. Based on observed difficulties, I supplement classes with specific exercises or grammatical explanations to correct errors and consolidate language mastery.

  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I’m actually a native French speaker! In Tunisia, my home country, French is our second language — it’s everywhere: at school, in public institutions, and in everyday life. I also studied in a French high school, then continued my education in France and Canada. So French has always been one of my main languages, along with Arabic.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

It may sound a bit old-fashioned, but I’d say Charles de Gaulle. I’ve always been fascinated by history, and de Gaulle embodies what he called “a certain idea of France.” He was not only a great leader but also a remarkable writer, with an elegant and sharp style that reflects the depth of the French language.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

For me, French is the language of precision and nuance. It’s hard to explain, but I feel that French naturally invites us to go deeper — to think carefully about what we mean and how we express it. That’s what I love most about it.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

French is the language through which I discovered the world — universal ideas, literature, art, and culture. It’s my window to the world, and the way I connect with people, stories, and creativity everywhere.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

I think the biggest difficulty isn’t the language itself — it’s the belief that French is “too difficult.” Many learners start with that mindset before even trying! Once they realize that learning a language can actually be fun, playful, and rewarding, everything becomes much easier.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I was a student, one of my French teachers used to make us act out short scenes from plays by Molière. At first, I was terrified of speaking in front of everyone — but that experience completely changed my relationship with the language. I learned that French isn’t just something you study; it’s something you live and perform.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Traveling to other French-speaking countries made me realize how wonderfully diverse the French language is. Each region has its own rhythm, expressions, and accent. For students, this helps them see that there’s not just one right way to speak French — and that can make them feel more confident and relaxed in their learning.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

I believe my greatest strength as a teacher is my ability to truly understand and adapt to each student’s needs. I make my lessons enjoyable and personal — transforming language learning into a human experience, not just an academic one. For me, teaching French isn’t only about grammar or vocabulary; it’s about connection, curiosity, and growth.
