About Rachelle
I am a certified teacher in the State of New York with a graduate teaching qualification from Queens College and a bachelor's in anthropology from Université Laval. Born and raised in Quebec, I am a native French speaker fluent in English and Spanish. I have spent years teaching languages and art to children, adolescents, and adults across New York City institutions including the Penumbra Foundation, Studio in a School, museums, and university settings. Whether you are five or seventy-five, a complete beginner or preparing for an advanced exam, I bring patience, cultural depth, and real-world fluency to every lesson. A typical lesson might start with a warm-up conversation about your week, in French, at your level. Then we dive into a focused topic: ordering at a café, navigating a job interview, understanding a film without subtitles. Grammar comes naturally through real scenarios, not worksheets. We close with a quick game or cultural moment, a song lyric, a Quebec expression, a French idiom that makes you smile. You leave every session with something you can use immediately.
