About Nicolas

As you may have seen by now, my name is Nicolas and I am French. My mum was the French one and my dad is English which means that I have the lucky advantage of being fully bilingual. I think this is important as it means we won't struggle to understand each other and I can help you understand whatever it is you might want to know from English to French and the other way around!

My aim with all of my teaching is to make you feel relaxed, at ease and as though it is enjoyable. I have always had great working relationships with those I have taught in the past. I am also a qualified football coach (with FA badges) and means I have spent several years in pedagogical settings with young people of all ages.

As someone who also remembers all too clearly how hard and frustrating school could be, I like to be patient and kind in my approach to teaching, understanding that people have different needs and learn at different speeds.

Away from tutoring, I am currently trying to write my first novel, I have worked in the charity sector for 9 years and to my great luck, I am an Arsenal fan.

Hello, my name is Nicolas, it is lovely to meet you!

My teaching style is hands-on and patient, I understand that French is a difficult language for a non-native speaker and will use all of my 'real' world French skills to help you. As much as possible, I will help you to speak and understand French for the context you need (passing exams, improving comprehension, becoming more confident conversationally). I can also adapt to any specific needs you may have.

A lesson, to my mind, should be an hour long, more than that and concentration begins to wane. As a tutor, I have several years' experience with children from ages 5-18 (and have also spent the last 10 years teaching my partner, who is fully English to speak and understand the language).

I can help teach you French at all levels, as a result of being French and speaking it on a daily basis. I aim to make lessons enjoyable and not 'dread' based as I believe that we learn better when we are happy and relaxed.

I offer both online and in person and can travel to you.
