About María
Hi, my name is María. I'm a Swiss-Argentinian therapist and musician and I live in NYC.
I'm a certified relationship consultant, and a graduate from the ETC school based out of Quebec. I've been a professional musician my whole life and have been a therapist since the beginning of 2025. I'm also a passionate mom and a lover of nature, sound, and the inner workings of the human soul.
In high school (I grew up in Geneva) I fell in love with French literature. Studying poetry and novels was my favorite thing to do in school. It truly shaped the way I saw life, and art.
Around that time I started working as a tutor, helping younger kids learn to read and go through their French lessons. I developed a love of teaching and I've been doing it ever since, whether teaching music, languages (I also have native proficiency in Spanish and speak fluent Italian and Portuguese), or even teaching life skills to my therapy clients.
My love of teaching comes from my love of learning. I'm always looking for new things to learn, and I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me.

I'm a French native speaker and I did all my schooling in French, but more importantly: in my lessons you don't just learn how to speak French, you learn how to have fun learning.
I'm a therapist so I'll help you work through inhibitions, and I'm a jazz musician so I'll teach you how to trust your ability to improvise in a new language.
I have almost 20 years of experience teaching. Together we'll get you to a confident place, and on the way, you might even pick up some self-love and an effective way of curating your own skills.
My methods:
I don't have a set way of teaching- it's all about what you need. So on our first day together we set up a plan together: what do you want to learn, and what specific goals will learning French help you achieve?
Afterwards, each four lessons we track your progress to see how you're doing in regards to your plans.
My lessons use a lot of improvisation so you can get real-life experience: we reevaluate and change direction as needed, so you can truly get the most of a lesson, and come out with French you can use right away.
In any given lesson we might: practice theme-based vocabulary; read and analyze some literature if you're an advanced student; go through pronunciation; converse in French; or anything else we find is helpful for you.
I love to use movies in my teaching, so as homework you might watch some movies and bring them back for your lesson. Music is also good, so I'll be sending you French songs to get your ear used to the language.
My lessons are for: anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of French and enjoy doing it. I teach French at all levels, whether you're just starting, you want to get a handle on technical vocabulary, or even if you're wanting to explore French classics.
