About Maricia
Hi and welcome!
My name is Maricia, I’m French, and I’m currently based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I offer French lessons and, in particular, conversational French for anyone who would like to improve their speaking skills, gain confidence, or simply have the opportunity to practice French in a relaxed and friendly environment.
I don’t have a formal qualification in language teaching, but French is my native language, and I genuinely love sharing my language and culture with others. I also love traveling and meeting people from different backgrounds, discovering new cultures, and sharing experiences.
My approach is very flexible and adapted to each person’s level, interests, and goals. I believe that the best way to improve a language is to practice it regularly and feel comfortable making mistakes along the way. My lessons are therefore based mainly on conversation and interaction, with a focus on helping you feel more confident speaking French. Depending on your needs, I can also help you improve your vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and understanding of everyday French, including expressions and phrases that French people actually use in daily life.
I studied arts and have worked as a costume and prop maker, so I’m a very creative and curious person with many different interests! I enjoy talking about all kinds of subjects and can easily adapt our conversations to your interests. We can talk about French culture and traditions, travel, art, cinema, fashion, food, everyday life, or simply anything you enjoy discussing.
My lessons are suitable for different levels, from beginners who would like to learn the basics to more advanced learners who want to practice their French and become more fluent and confident. I am also happy to adapt the lessons depending on your age, interests, and learning objectives.
A typical lesson lasts one hour, but I am flexible and happy to discuss a different duration depending on your needs and preferences. The price can also be discussed depending on the format and length of the lessons.
Whether you are learning French for travel, work, personal interest, or simply because you love the language, I would be delighted to chat with you, share my language and culture, and help you feel more comfortable speaking French.
