About Jillian
I am half French and spent every summer with my family in France for nearly 20 years. It was during these summer vacations with 15+ French family members who speak little to no English that I learned French as a child. I then continued to study the language in high school and college and I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2010 with a degree in Journalism and a minor in French. Since then, I have worked mainly in the marketing and beauty industries, and have always found a way to weave my love of the French language and culture into my work and life. When I reflect back on my childhood as well as when I look towards my future, the French language and culture has a solid presence and importance in both areas. Throughout life, the following question arises for us all in various conversations: "What is something for which you are very thankful?" and for me, one of my recurring responses is always: "The fact that my parents sent me to France every summer as a child and provided me with the opportunity to learn another language and culture." As you continue along your French language learning journey, I look forward to being able to guide you towards your goals and enhance your French speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. I am currently a French teacher at a school here in Dallas and I also private teach/tutor.
