About Helen
Hello! My name is Helen and I'm native to London, England. I am an English teacher with extensive experience in private tutoring and TEFL. I graduated in Languages (Spanish & English) from the University of Leeds in 2014. I made the exciting move from London to Salvador at the beginning of this year and am offering private (or small group) English classes!

Learning a language is primarily about communication. Therefore, my classes always have an emphasis on conversation, focusing on topics which are of interest to the student to ensure the conversation is as natural as possible. This is the best way to gain confidence and make the most of having a native teacher! Accuracy in this part of the lesson is not a priority, however conversation is a great way to highlight which areas need improvement and can be revised with more detail, whether it be grammar, vocab, pronunciation etc.
Every student has their own objective and reason for learning English, and my classes are always tailored to the objectives of each student, be it an exam, an upcoming trip, or for professional reasons.
Each class will cover at least one grammar point (appropriate to the learner's level and objectives). This grammar is then practiced through natural communication (writing, reading, speaking, listening). I always use authentic resources for reading and listening (articles, songs, online videos, literature etc).

Perfect! Helen é uma excelente professora! Ela ama estudar idiomas e acho isso uma qualidade fundamental para quem ensina línguas.
