About Oliver
My name is Oliver. I have just finished studying English Literature at Cambridge University, studying English literature, a subject I am very passionate about. My enthusiasm comes across in my lessons, as I enjoy facilitating my students interests through my own extensive reading. I am comfortable with teaching, having had a lot of experience tutoring GCSE students in particular, and I find the process to be personally rewarding as well as intellectually stimulating.
I am diligent in preparing for my sessions. I believe that a greater understanding of how the exam is being marked is the most efficient way of boosting grades. I try to help my students understant why they are being asked to write in a certain way. I am particularly interested in the social and historical significance of literary texts.
For Oxbridge Applications and Personal Statements advice, I find it necessary to quiz my students on why they are drawn to the course they are applying for. Suggesting further reading is key to this, as developing a vibrant picture of their academic pursuits is what universities are looking to see.
