About Mia
Hi there, I am Mia Nel, a South African citizen studying BA development and environment at the University of Stellenbosch. I am extremely passionate about conservation and environmental education. During my time in high school I did the Cambridge curriculum where I studied A level Afrikaans, AS English, AS Biology, and AS environmental management as my matriculate subjects. Thus, I am confident in my teaching abilities regarding Afrikaans, English, and environmental studies on a beginner level (ages 6-12). I am so excited to meet you and help you learn new things!

I plan on adopting a fun and interactive learning approach where students are not forced to do anything but rather encouraged to participate through educational games and conversation to improve pronunciation. My lessons are aimed at primary school level (between the ages of 6-12). I take a gentle approach to teaching kids as I myself was a shy student, and allow the child to gain confidence in their abilities by lifting them up. I am confident in teaching Afrikaans, English, and environmental studies. I am not fluent in foreign languages therefore I expect the student to be able to understand a bit of English or have a translation app if there is confusion. I cannot wait to teach you.
