About Madison
I really enjoy the instrument and the art now, though I probably stressed out too much when I was serious about it. I help my little siblings with piano sometimes, and I always try to make sure they’re having fun and not learning to hate the instrument while also progressing and learning. I’m big on technique and dynamics, but I also believe in personal interpretation of the score. I like implementing fun and challenging exercises and rewarding hard work. I think consistency is key when it comes to piano, so I appreciate practicing at least a few days a week (3-6). I’ve been trained as a classical pianist, and while I still love classical, I’m also a big fan of jazz and improv, as well as alternative music. I think students learn better when they pick pieces they actually like, whether that’s classical or not.

I took private lessons all the way through high school, while also completing yearly written, aural, and playing exams through the state and national level. I’ve also competed at an international level. I’m a college student now and I love playing jazz and composing now.
