About Damian
Hi there. I am passionate about Maths. I don't just teach Maths, I tend to think about situations involving Maths all the time. When I'm driving for instance, I think about my average speed and try to calculate the time of arrival without looking at the sat nav. I have had a number of students that I have tutored in the past who tell me that I give them not only confidence but also different ways of arriving at a solution. Maths is about understanding what is asked of you, understanding the question and then determining a way to answer that question. I have a good knowledge of the SQA and the knowledge of where students can pick up marks and (crucially) not pick up marks.

I take time to get to know the strengths and weaknesses of my tutees. I listen to their concerns and any potential barriers to their learning. We then discuss a plan to address their concerns and those barriers. It is an open discussion and I need to know your motivation for using a tutor. Lessons usually last an hour. If they go over by a few minutes then so be it. I only charge for full hours. My degree was in Mathematics and Finance from Heriot-Watt and I also have 20+ years of real world experience from the world of finance, brokering and investment management. I completed a PGDE course from the University of Strathclyde which has a strong reputation and global recognition. My lessons are for those pupils struggling or wanting more help from S1 to S5, so up to and including National 5.

Perfect! Charlotte's first lesson with Damian was a positive experience. She was comfortable sharing gaps in her learning and understood Damian's explanations and instructions. She thoroughly enjoyed this session and is very keen to continue. We have therefore agreed a weekly lesson with Damien to support Charlotte in her NAT 5 maths.
Perfect! Damien is an absolutely incredible tutor! He has helped me become exam ready within 2 weeks.(I didn’t know very much before hand) I highly recommend Damien because he boosted my confidence and also found good strategies to help me learn. I will definitely be coming back for more lessons.
- They need confidence - Robbie has worked really hard over the last few weeks. He knows his stuff really well now. Sometimes Robbie needs to slow down a little to consider what he has just done and reflect before doing the next part of the calculation.
