About Briony
I'm an engaging music teacher with 9 years of experience. I have training in one-on-one classes, group classes and community music workshops.
I studied music at Edinburgh University where I achieved a 2.1 Bachelor of Music with Honours degree. I specialised in composition, orchestration and arrangement during the honours years of my degree.
I teach beginners to intermediates a variety of styles on the violin as I learnt Scottish & Irish Traditional music growing up, classical music at school and I performed Gypsy Jazz fiddle for my degree performances. I love all of these styles and I can mix and match our lessons if you would like to engage with more than one. I use both the Kodaly method and the Suzuki method of teaching.
I offer piano lessons to beginners and popular music enthusiasts. My lessons focus on teaching you skills that you can use to become self-sufficient, creative and compose, improvise in various styles.
My favourite topic in music has always been arrangement and I offer classes in this, theory, composition and orchestration. I can also provide lessons for the ABRSM Grade 5.
