Some individuals may view music reading as unnecessary, relying solely on their ears for their musical endeavors. However, do not let these people deceive you when it comes to the value of learning music notation. Music reading and writing not only greatly enhance your musical ear and sense of rhythm but also open up limitless possibilities for working with music. Moreover, it provides unexpected cognitive benefits that have been well-documented.
In this course, we will provide you with the correct approach. We will not only focus on developing your reading skills but also on cultivating a powerful musical ear, a sense of rhythm, basic composition techniques, intonation, and much more.
Course Contents:
*Solfeggio: This section will introduce ear training and musical reading methods that foster abilities in what we refer to as "Functional music."
*Post-tonal theory applied to written music and ear training: Similar to solfeggio, but this segment will explore non-functional music and its application to both written notation and ear training.
*Transcription methodologies: Transcription is the art of converting audio or songs into written form. This skill is an invaluable tool for developing both writing proficiency and ear training.
*Sight-reading methodologies: Sight-reading involves playing a piece of sheet music at first glance. This section will focus on techniques to improve your sight-reading abilities. (We will apply all the experience gained in this course to an instrument or singing.)
*Rhythm and applied rhythm: This module will delve into the intricacies of rhythm, providing practical applications and exercises to enhance your rhythmic understanding.
By covering these topics, we aim to provide a comprehensive learning experience that will equip you with the necessary skills to read music and develop your musical ear effectively.
