About Alessia
Hi there!
My name is Alessia and I am 20 years old. I was born speaking Italian and French. I started tutoring by helping some of my friends who were studying foreign languages and were having trouble with exams.
I then moved on to giving guitar lessons to a little 7-year-old girl and, right after realizing how much I loved teaching I started giving lessons to elementary school children. I now have over 3 years of experience, although it is my first time using this website. (I had been using LanguageTutors.com and Care.com prior to this).
I have also worked as a nanny before so I have experience is children (both toddlers and school-aged) and I have a 12-year-old little sister and a younger brother who often used to ask for my help with their schoolwork.
I am patient and understanding and excited to help anyone, of any age, learn a new language!

Italian
I started learning English by myself when I was 8 and I have realized that what worked for me was conversation. A lot of conversation. I would often talk to myself in English and I refused to watch TV unless it was in English. The approach I saw worked best for me was: conversation and listening exercises first and grammar will usually follow/ start coming naturally. However I understand that everyone is different and I am willing to adapt to each person's needs.
I try to get my students talking, practicing and making sentences all by themselves as quickly as possible.
