About Giorgio
I am a MSc student in Mathematical Engineering (Quantitative Finance focus) from Politecnico di Milano in Italy, currently doing my MSc thesis at UCL computer science department in London.
My biggest passion is math since when I enjoyed solving integrals and equations in high school.
However, I like to define myself as a practitioner, reason why I pursued a BSc in Mathematical Engineerin (graduated 2019), where mathematics, physics and programming (coding in python/matlab/C++) are combined in order to solve real life problems.
During my MSc I focused more on Quantitative Finance models and methods for derivatives pricing, exploiting subjects as Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance and Computational Finance.
I studied Calculus from its bases up to Real&Functional Analysis, Complex Analysis and Stochastic Calculus, everything applied to numerical numethod used when solving Integrals, Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) and Optimization problems.
All this theoretical knowledge must be translated into practice via coding languages such as python, matlab and C++with a focus on Object Oriented Porgramming (OOP) and Data Structures.
My math andC++ coding skills have been sharpened during my internship at Mediobanca in the financial engineering team, where I had to develop C++ and Excel VBA code in order to support traders' operational needs. During these months I also got exposure to real and practical derivatives modeling issues that Quants have to deal with everyday.

I have tutored more than 30 students from STEM focused high schools and more than 10 undergraduate students in engineering universities around Italy.
My 6 years experience as a private tutor helps me in understanding what students really need. I strongly believe that every student is different and needs a specific method and approach, tailored specifically for her/his needs.
I am available for both online and in presence lessons (distance will be considered), since I have an Ipad that I have already used with past students. I write everything I say, from theory to exercises and I send my notes to the student as a pdf note, so that she/he can study from my schemes.
I usually start from the beginning, trying to understand where the student lacks knowledge, or which topics aren't clear. Then I review theory together, in order to ensure that the student gets all the tools she/he needs during the exercises. Finally I show to the student how some sample exercise should be solved (being correct isn't enough sometimes, clarity of the procedure when solving a problem is essential) and after that she/he is asked to solve some exercises together, having me as a support whener needed.
Trying and correcting mistakes is an excellent path towards knowledge.
