About Andrew
I have been tutoring students at MIT for a year. As a physics tutor, I worked with about 30 people to explain key concepts from classes and to help them work through practice problems.
Because I am a current college student, I have learned the material that I am teaching within the past few years, and I know what it was like trying to learn it. I also have had experience helping my friends and peers in high school and college learn challenging concepts when we were in class together. Furthermore, because I am still taking classes and learning new concepts, I know the best ways to learn new challenging concepts.

I am an MIT physics student, so I have to use trigonometry, algebra, and calculus all the time in school. I believe the best way to learn a topic is to first see someone work through an example problem and then use the structure of the example problem to work through a new problem.
I believe that the best way to learn a topic is to do lot of practice problems on the topic. Therefore, a typical lesson with me would typically start with the student asking any questions they have and me asking the student what topics they are good at and what topics they struggle with, so I know what we need to work on. I would then explain any topics the student is confused about and work through a practice problem or two to show how the concept works. Then I would have the student do a few practice problems, having them do as much as possible on their own and only helping them when they are stuck.
