About Danica
Hello! I've been helping students improve their academic writing for years, and there's nothing I love more than watching someone discover they're actually a strong writer who just needed the right guidance.
During my undergraduate studies, I won awards for my essays in both Philosophy and English and made the Dean's List. I went on to earn my Master of Fine Arts in writing and now work primarily as a freelance writer and editor. I understand literature from both sides: as a student who excelled, and now as a professional writer who knows what makes written communication truly effective.
We can meet in person in East Vancouver: at a café, a park, a library, or in my home office. Or, we can meet online.

Good essay writing is about so much more than improving your grade.
In the age of AI, the most valuable skill you can develop is the ability to think independently: to understand and analyze what you read, and to express your own ideas in clear, accurate language. Essay writing is where that skill is built.
Each session is tailored to your specific assignment and learning style.
We'll start by identifying your specific areas of challenge. Together we'll work on the fundamentals of effective essay writing: structure and technique, understanding exactly what your instructor wants, and planning and organizing your work. I will share my best tips for making your writing stand out. You will discover new confidence in your ideas, because strengthening your writing leads to clearer thinking and a stronger ability to learn.
When you learn to construct a compelling argument, analyze evidence thoughtfully, and express complex ideas clearly, you don't just become a better student—you develop skills in critical thinking and communication that will serve you in relationships, in your career, and in every area of life where you need to explain, persuade, collaborate, or connect with others.
Whether you're struggling with thesis statements, organizing your thoughts, analyzing sources, or simply getting started, we'll work together to build both your confidence and your skills. You'll leave every session with practical strategies you can apply immediately.
Drawing on my experience as an award-winning essayist and professional writer, I'll help you see essay writing not as a hurdle to overcome, but as a powerful tool that you'll use for the rest of your life.
My sessions are designed primarily for university students. High school students that are independent and motivated are welcome at a different rate—please reach out to discuss.
