About Jack
I’ve always enjoyed understanding the world around me and I hope I can share that enthusiasm with my students. I have a wide range of knowledge and am open to learning new things to further my quality of teaching. Outside of studying for my medical degree, I enjoy playing lead guitar in a band and painting.

I believe in teaching in small building blocks before building up to more difficult topics. I have found from my own experience of learning that sometimes I need to go back to the basics to ensure my fundamental understanding is sufficient to tackle bigger problems. I sometimes found in school that teachers apply a one size fits all approach and students that haven’t quite grasped the previous concept can become lost, particularly in maths. I hope to be the tutor that breaks down the problems my students are facing so we can build back up to the topics they are finding challenging in a way that feels natural and builds their confidence and interest in the subject. My teaching style is to teach by analogy as I believe this can provide a tangible example to the student, particularly in maths where the concepts can become very abstract. My typical lesson length will be an hour. I have experience in tutoring within the medical school, teaching medicine to the lower years and have experience preparing lessons. My focus is on A Level, however I am also confident in my GCSE level knowledge. I achieved all 9/8 level grades at GCSE and A*AA at A level with my A* in maths.
