About Miriam
I am a medical student. I have been tutoring formally since last year. Before this, I tutored friends, relatives and young children that I cared for during the holidays since 2016. My favourite subjects have always been Maths and Biology

I base my sessions based on the student's areas of need. I usually start by discussing with the student their priorities of learning and structuring a timetable of how to address this subjects. This is followed by a short quiz featuring questions from the different topics ranging from easy to challenging which is done uninterrupted. At the end of the quiz, we select the first set of questions that caused the most difficulty and start working on the topic that they feature. I will have prepared beforehand lesson plans for the topics that feature in the quiz but we will work from that first topic. At the end of every lesson, I end with a short test to figure if the information has been consolidated and ask the student to rate their confidence in the subject comparing at the beginning to the end. The following lesson features a similar structure. There is a short quiz with 2 or 3 questions from the previous topic then more from the next area of challenge and a lesson plan afterwards. I enquire on the students level of understanding as well as confidence throughout the session to ensure that it is not overwhelming or confusing.
