About RICK
Hello! My name is Patrick, and I'm a student-athlete and Mechanical Engineering student at Tennessee State University with a passion for helping students succeed in math.
I understand that math can be challenging, and my goal is to make every lesson supportive, engaging, and easy to follow.
As a student-athlete, I've developed strong time management, discipline, and perseverance—qualities I bring to every tutoring session. I also have experience serving as a high school academic mentor, working at the Boys & Girls Club, and tutoring students online. These experiences have taught me how to connect with students of different ages and learning styles.
I specialize in elementary math, middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Every lesson is tailored to the student's needs, with clear explanations, guided practice, and plenty of encouragement to build both understanding and confidence.
Whether your child needs help catching up, staying ahead, or preparing for tests, I'm committed to creating a positive learning environment where they can grow and succeed. I look forward to helping each student reach their full potential in math.

As a Mechanical Engineering student at Tennessee State University, I believe every student can succeed in math with the right guidance and encouragement. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and step-by-step. I focus on making sure students understand why a method works instead of simply memorizing formulas.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material and identifying any areas of confusion. I then introduce the new concept using simple explanations and examples before guiding students through practice problems together. As students become more confident, I gradually let them solve problems independently while providing feedback and tips. I finish each lesson with a short review and recommend practice to reinforce what was learned.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet students where they are. Whether a student needs to relearn the basics or is preparing for a challenging exam, I adapt each lesson to their learning style and pace. My experience as a high school academic mentor, a Boys & Girls Club instructor, and an online math tutor has taught me how to build confidence while improving problem-solving skills.
My lessons are designed for elementary, middle school, and high school students studying general math, pre-algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Whether your goal is better grades, stronger fundamentals, or greater confidence in math, I'm here to help you succeed.
