About Abraham
About Me
I am an Engineering graduate with a strong passion for mathematics, problem-solving, and teaching. My engineering background has given me a deep appreciation of how mathematics moves beyond textbooks and becomes a powerful tool for understanding and solving real-world problems.
Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and analytical thinking. More importantly, I have always enjoyed helping others understand difficult ideas and seeing the moment when a concept that once seemed complicated finally becomes clear.
This passion is what led me to tutoring.
As a tutor, I aim to bring the same logical and practical approach I use in engineering into my teaching. I break complex mathematical concepts into understandable steps, encourage students to think independently, and help them develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems.
I believe that being good at mathematics is not simply about remembering formulae. It is about understanding concepts, recognising patterns, thinking logically, and knowing how to approach problems.
My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. Whether I am working with an A-Level student preparing for examinations or a university student dealing with advanced mathematics, I adapt my teaching to the student’s individual needs and level of understanding.
For me, tutoring is more than simply helping a student achieve a better grade. It is about developing confidence, curiosity and the ability to think mathematically.
As an engineer and tutor, I want to share not only what I know, but also the way of thinking that has helped me use mathematics to solve real-world problems.
My success as a tutor is measured by the moment a student realises, “I can actually do this.”

My Approach to Mathematics Tutoring
Dear Future Student,
Welcome, and thank you for considering me as your mathematics tutor.
Whether you are studying A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or mathematics at university, my approach is built around one simple principle:
I don’t want you to memorise mathematics — I want you to understand it.
Mathematics can sometimes feel difficult because students are taught formulae and procedures without fully understanding where they come from or why they work. My role is to change that.
Understanding Before Memorising
When we study a topic, I will not simply give you a formula and expect you to remember it. We will explore the ideas behind it, understand how the mathematics works, and then practise applying it.
Whether we are working on calculus, algebra, mechanics, statistics, vectors, differential equations, complex numbers or another challenging topic, I will break difficult concepts into manageable steps.
Learning How to Solve Problems
At A-Level and university, knowing the theory is only part of mathematics. The real challenge is often knowing how to approach an unfamiliar problem.
I will therefore teach you how to:
* Identify what a question is really asking.
* Decide which mathematical principles are relevant.
* Break complex problems into smaller steps.
* Check whether your answer makes sense.
* Recognise common mistakes and avoid them.
* Approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.
My objective is to develop your mathematical thinking, not just your ability to complete familiar exercises.
No Fear of Difficult Questions
I understand that mathematics can be frustrating when you encounter a question that you simply cannot see how to start.
Instead of immediately giving you the answer, I will guide you through the reasoning. Sometimes I may give you a small hint, ask you a question, or encourage you to try another approach.
The aim is for you to eventually look at a difficult problem and think:
“I don’t know the answer yet, but I know how to start.”
That is an important mathematical skill.
Your Progress Matters
Every student starts from a different point. I will take the time to identify your strengths, weaknesses and areas that need improvement.
Our lessons can include:
Concept → Explanation → Worked Example → Your Attempt → Feedback → More Challenging Problems
As your understanding improves, the difficulty will increase.
I will also encourage you to explain your reasoning. If you can explain why you reached an answer, rather than simply producing the answer, it demonstrates a much deeper level of understanding.
Preparing You for Exams — and Beyond
Of course, exam performance matters.
We will work on exam-style questions, time management, mathematical presentation, common question patterns and strategies for dealing with challenging problems.
However, I don’t want your learning to stop when the examination ends.
For university students especially, mathematics becomes increasingly about reasoning, modelling, abstraction and applying mathematical ideas to real problems.
My aim is therefore to give you skills that remain useful beyond a particular examination.
My Commitment to You
I will be patient with you, but I will also challenge you.
I will explain things in different ways when necessary.
I will encourage you when you are struggling.
I will point out mistakes honestly and help you understand how to correct them.
And most importantly, I will never make you feel embarrassed for not understanding something.
If you don’t understand it, we simply haven’t found the right way to explain it yet.
My ultimate goal is not for you to depend on me.
It is for you to become confident enough to eventually solve problems without me.
So whether your goal is to improve your grades, prepare for university, pass a difficult module, achieve an A/A*, or simply become more confident with mathematics, I will work with you to build the understanding and problem-solving ability required to get there.
Mathematics becomes much less intimidating when you understand how to think mathematically.
