About Sudhanva

I’m an MSc Management student at Queen Mary University of London, currently ranking among the top performers in my cohort. Before moving to the UK I studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry through to Class 12 in India’s science stream, scoring an A1 with a perfect grade point in Mathematics at secondary level, and sat the Joint Entrance Examination, one of the most competitive maths-heavy entrance exams in the world.

Teaching isn’t new to me. For three years I mentored students from local government schools through a family-run education initiative, working with the same students over long stretches rather than one-off sessions, often building lesson content from scratch where no materials existed. That taught me to explain a single idea four or five different ways until one lands. I also coach chess, and took a complete beginner from a 100 to a 1200 rating, same method as maths: break the subject into components, drill the weak one, reassemble.

Outside academics I box, sketch, and play in online chess tournaments. I mention that because I know what it’s like to be a beginner at something and to grind slowly towards competence, which is exactly the position most students are in when they sit down with a maths tutor, and I try to make that feel normal rather than embarrassing.

I’m patient, I don’t rush, and I’d rather you understand one method properly than memorise three you can’t apply under exam pressure.

My lessons are diagnostic before they’re anything else. The first session isn’t a lecture, bring your last piece of homework or a past paper, work through it in front of me, and I’ll watch how you think rather than just mark what you got wrong. Most students who believe they’re bad at maths aren’t; they have one or two specific gaps sitting several chapters back, usually in fractions, indices, or rearranging equations, and everything downstream collapses on top of them. I find that gap, rebuild it, then move forward.

After that, a typical hour runs: ten minutes recapping the last session’s weak point, thirty to forty minutes on new material worked as problems rather than examples I talk through, and the last ten minutes setting targeted practice for the week. I correct method, not just answers — a right answer reached the long way will cost you time in an exam, and a wrong answer with sound reasoning is a much smaller fix than it looks.

I teach algebra, geometry, trigonometry, arithmetic and statistics, from primary level through GCSE and into A-Level and undergraduate quantitative modules, including business statistics and financial analysis for university students.

Sessions run online or in person across London, evenings and weekends around my postgraduate timetable. I’m patient with students who’ve lost confidence in the subject and equally happy pushing someone already competent towards top grades.
