About Florina

1) When did you develop interest in your chosen field and private tutoring? Since I come from a family of teachers, from a very young age I have started giving private mathematics classes. Therefore, I love the logical part of problems and transmitting this to the students. 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less). I have several students with whom I have started since primary school (some from China, Japan, New Zealand, etc.) preparing for the UK exams and now I continue with them revising and preparing for the GCSE exams. Most students have achieved up at least two grades in a year and some have achieved the highest possible grade. It all depends on the student and the expectations they have. 3) Did you have any role models? A teacher who inspired you? My father was a fantastic mathematics teacher, now he is retired, but from a very young age he inspired me in the logic that this subject transmits. Likewise, it is the basis of many subjects such as architecture, mechanics or physics. 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor? It is important to listen to the students, the parents and, if possible, contact the school teachers to personalise the classes to the student's needs and not waste time. Furthermore, it is essential to understand them and have patience to resolve all your doubts. 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school. When I was in primary school I had a classmate who wouldn't stop talking and the language teacher would make her read so she would stop talking. 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject? Mathematics is a subject that must be worked on and practised. Therefore, students who take their work seriously (asking questions, doing homework) are the ones who achieve the best results. Thus, the student's commitment is essential to overcome any challenge of the subject. 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different? I love teaching mathematics at all levels. 8) What makes you a Superprof ? I’m a passionate, creative and approachable online tutor, having accumulated several years as a Maths teacher in a High School. I am an energetic tutor highly experienced in teaching online who provides tutoring for learners of GCSE levels. The way I work online is face-to-face, ensuring the personal touch as if we were having the lesson in your house. Working Via Skype and using the latest interactive resources, I communicate in a very visual way, always accommodating your needs by preparing an individual tailored teaching programme for you. I am fully conversant with the National Curriculum and familiar with the specifications of every single examination body. I know the nature of the exams very well, every year I steer many students to success.
