About Rayhan

I am 18 and currently an A-level student taking Maths, Geography and English Literature. I went from low grades in my mocks to getting a 9 in English language/literature and Maths GCSE and am predicted A* in English and an A in maths. I have also received an offer from Cambridge to study law and feel as though I am an example of how you can truly turn around your grades no matter how late you feel it is. I hope to build confidence and knowledge within my students. I have previous 3 years of experience in tutoring a wide range of students and am confident in my ability to adapt my teaching style to each student.

About the lesson

I offer 1 hour lessons for GCSE or 11+ students. I believe it is never too late to make a change in your grades, as I went from receiving a 6 in mathematics and 3 in English during my year 11 mocks in March to receiving a 9 in all three grades which I now pursue at A-level. The students I’ve worked with have consistently made strong progress and achieved their desired outcomes, which is a testament to my ability to teach in a way that produces results. I have 3 years of experience with tutoring students for the 11+ and selected secondary school entrance exams and have learnt a lot about different approaches to be adapted to each individual student. Whether a student is struggling with basic concepts or looking for advanced challenges, I’m skilled at providing tailored support. For English students: I will start by analysing past written examples from the student and will then identify weaknesses and go through them in detail. I will also write full mark answers together with the student to practise and demonstrate the style of writing that is most common with grade 9 students. We will do analysis of many grade 9 example answers so that key objectives are constantly achieved to secure higher marks in exams. I will also give the student resources for grade 9 interpretations of texts. For Maths students: We will go through any weaknesses the student may have and identify them then go through them one topic at a time. If preferred I will also set homework following each topic which will be reviewed the following lesson. I have found that since Maths is a formulaic subject, once a topic is understood it is easier to implement within exam questions. Understanding a topic is the main and most essential component to maths and during my time as a maths student I have had to learn and develop several methods for problem solving. I adapt my teaching style to fit the student's needs, whether that involves simplifying concepts or providing more challenging problems.
