About Mathias
Experienced and enthusiastic tutor. I am passionate about making learning accesible, easy and enjoyable.
After completing a French Scientific Baccalaureate, I came to the UK to study a BSc in Financial Economics at the University of London (First Class Honours, Award for Best Undegraduate Module of the Department of Mathematics and Economics and Award for Highest Overall Mark of the Course). I have then completed an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in Finance and Economics. I am starting a PhD at the University of London.
I tutor for:
- KS1, KS2 and KS3 Maths.
-11+ Maths, ISEB and public school exam entrance.
-13+ Maths, ISEB and public school exam entrance.
-GCSE Maths.
-A-Level Maths (c1-c4, m1-m5, s1-s4, d1-d2).
-A-level Economics.
-International Baccalaureate, IB, Maths.
-International Baccalaureate, IB, Economics.
-French Primary.
Throughout my studies, I have benefited greatly from the opportunities of learning and understanding that I have gained, together with the confidence that comes with achievement. I am enthusiastic in passing on my love of learning and in building skills and confidence that will last well beyond school.
I have been informally tutoring fellow students throughout my studies, and I have supported many students from primary to A-level with their studies. I believe that anyone can succeed at the highest standard, anyone has the right predisposition for achieving their academic goals. I concentrate on finding the right approach that fits the individual needs of students, and on providing students with the skills that will allow them to adapt and progress independently, which then further their confidence in their own capacity.
Following a first meeting, I will quickly assess what is most needed by the student and what will be the most effective approach in order to achieve the goals that have been set, such as organisational skills, learning and concentration techniques, stress management, and exam preparation practice.
As well as more formal resources, I also use alternative resources such as iPad and androids applications, and I am always open to resources that students may want to use. This creates an interactive learning environment which empowers students and provides an array of resources to use in order to cater for each student.
When I am not tutoring or studying, I enjoy cooking and mountaineering.
