About Zhen
As a UC Berkeley student with over 2,000 hours of tutoring experience, I’m passionate about helping students master math with clarity and confidence. I’ve earned A grades in every college-level math course—from Precalculus and Calculus to Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Discrete Math, and Statistics. My academic excellence is backed by results: I’ve been a two-time winner of both the Integration Bee and the AMATYC math competition, achievements that reflect not only my subject mastery but also my problem-solving speed and accuracy under pressure. Whether you're struggling with a new concept or aiming for top scores, I’ll meet you where you are and guide you step by step. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to your pace and goals. I believe that with the right approach, any student can excel in math—and I’m here to help you prove it to yourself.

My Approach as a Tutor
My tutoring approach is rooted in clarity, structure, and adaptability. I believe that students learn best when complex ideas are broken down into manageable steps, reinforced through patterns, and connected to real-world applications.
Teaching Methods and Techniques:
I use a concept-first method—ensuring that students thoroughly understand the “why” before diving into the “how.” I prepare organized notes and handouts that highlight key ideas, formulas, and common pitfalls. I also design visual aids, question patterns, and guided summaries to help students retain information.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A standard session begins with a brief review of previous material and clarifying any confusion. Then, I introduce the day’s topic using real examples or visuals. Next, I guide students through progressive exercises, from basic to challenging, with frequent pauses to check understanding. I end each session with a summary and targeted practice suggestions to reinforce what we covered.
What Sets Me Apart:
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my attention to learning patterns and student psychology—I adapt to each student’s pace and preferred learning style. I emphasize active learning, not passive memorization. I also provide custom handouts and test strategies that reduce anxiety and boost performance.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are tailored for high school and early college students, particularly those taking AP-level or introductory college courses in math. I work with both struggling learners who need step-by-step support and advanced students looking to master nuanced material or prepare for competitive exams.
