  • 1. Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

When I was 17.5 years old I faced some economic crisis and at that time I decided to work somewhere. But to choose where to work the most acceptable option I feel at that time was teaching. Initially, I taught to a KG 2 student and gradually I taught higher standards students, since then there was no looking back. My necessity became my passion.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My mother is the motivation behind me. She is herself a school teacher and I got inspired from her. Teaching is the best way through which you can actually create an impact in someone's life.
  • How does your work help society?

A society progress when it is educated with moral values and ethics. I make sure that through teaching that students should not only understand the concepts but also through moral lessons and ethical values they should become good human beings.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My role model is Swami Vivekanand and Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Both were great teachers.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I am a university-level basketball and chess player. My hobby includes Gardening. I love to be with nature and this is one of the reasons I did my master's in Geography I am registering myself for a Doctorate in Climate change so as to save and conserve nature.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

During my time as a tutor, I had the opportunity to work with a high school student named Yashasvi. She was struggling with her math coursework, particularly with algebra. Yashasvi had always found math challenging, and her confidence was low when it came to solving equations and understanding concepts.

To help Yashasvi overcome her difficulties, I decided to take a more personalized approach. Instead of using traditional teaching methods, I incorporated real-life examples and visual aids into our lessons. I would relate algebraic equations to practical situations and show her how they could be applied in everyday life.

One day, while teaching Yashasvi about linear equations, I used the example of calculating expenses for a road trip. I explained how the cost of fuel, mileage, and other factors could be represented by variables and equations. We created graphs to visualize the relationship between distance and cost, andYashasvi began to see the practical application of algebra in her own life.

To further boost Yashasvi's confidence, I assigned her some practice problems that gradually increased in difficulty. We worked through them together, discussing the steps and strategies for solving each one. Over time, Yashasvi's skills improved, and she became more comfortable with algebraic concepts.

A few weeks later, Yashasvi approached me with a beaming smile. She had received her latest math test results, and she had achieved her highest score in algebra ever. Not only did she understand the material better, but her newfound confidence had made a significant impact on her overall performance.

This experience taught me the power of personalized teaching methods and the importance of connecting abstract concepts to real-life examples. It highlighted the impact that a patient and supportive tutor can have on a student's learning journey. Witnessing Yashasvi progress and seeing her regain confidence in her math abilities was truly rewarding and reaffirmed my passion for tutoring.
