About Evan
With 5 years of experience in both in-person and online teaching, I work with students from beginner to professional levels. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy, which has equipped me to teach with both depth and clarity. My approach centers on three essentials: strong sight-reading, thoughtful score analysis, and expressive musical interpretation. Every student learns differently, so I carefully adapt lessons to match individual needs and musical goals. I include music theory, historical background, and finger exercises to help students understand and embody the music. For advanced students, I emphasize stylistic nuance and period-informed practices. My studio is a space for growth, exploration, and confidence-building. Whether you're discovering piano for the first time or refining advanced repertoire, I will support you every step of the way. My approach to piano teaching is deeply rooted in theory because I believe true understanding leads to confident playing. I teach students to recognize chord structures, progressions, and inversions right at the keyboard. This method simplifies theory and shows how it directly supports everything from classical performance to exam preparation. For exam takers, I provide structured lessons that ensure both practical and written theory skills are strong. For classical performers, I help analyze and interpret scores with historical and harmonic insight. We’ll also explore composition and improvisation as a way to internalize theory naturally. I tailor every lesson to fit the student’s goals and current level. My focus is always on clarity, musicality, and steady progress. You’ll learn not just what to play, but why it works. This creates a stronger, more confident musician. I guide students to think critically and listen carefully. Music theory should feel like a key, not a code. Together, we’ll unlock your potential.
