About Leah
I’m a dedicated guitar tutor with over 11 years of experience, specializing in helping adult learners build confidence and creativity through music. Holding a Diploma of Music with a Guitar Specialization, I bring both technical knowledge and a deep passion for teaching. My lessons are flexible and supportive, designed to meet each student’s individual goals and learning pace. I understand that every adult learner comes with unique motivations—whether it’s returning to an old passion, learning from scratch, or improving existing skills. My approach focuses on practical goal-setting, so progress feels clear and rewarding at every step. I encourage self-expression and creativity, helping students find their own style and voice on the guitar. Lessons include everything from technique and rhythm to improvisation and songwriting, always taught in a relaxed and inspiring environment. I believe that music is not about perfection but connection, and that it’s never too late to learn something new. For me, teaching guitar is about empowering adults to enjoy music as a lifelong journey of growth and joy. My guitar teaching approach focuses on helping every student find their own musical voice while building strong technical skills. I design lessons to fit each learner’s level, pace, and personal goals—whether they are beginners exploring chords or advanced players refining performance techniques. My teaching covers all major guitar styles including classical, acoustic, electric, jazz, and bass, giving students a well-rounded understanding of the instrument.
I emphasize the importance of both theory and creativity. Students learn chord progressions, scales, and harmony exploration to understand how music truly works. I also integrate songwriting and lyric accompaniment into lessons, helping learners compose their own music and express emotions through their guitar. For those passionate about tone, phrasing, and expressive dynamics, I guide them to bring personality and color into every performance.
I support students who may be starting later in life or learning fingerstyle with patience and structured guidance, helping them grow with confidence. My lessons include improvisation, rhythm training, and ear development to encourage musical independence.
Each session balances discipline with fun, ensuring consistent progress while keeping creativity alive. My goal is to make students not just skilled guitarists but expressive, confident musicians who truly connect with their instrument.
