About Da
Hi, I am Da! I graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Teaching and I did a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Asian studies and Media communication.
I spent 16 years living in China, where I have been to 15 different cities. I am a native Chinese speaker in two different dialects. As a lifelong practitioner of Chinese martial arts, I started a martial art club at the University of Melbourne 6 years ago, where I have been teaching for 3 years. My passion for Chinese culture also extends to lion dancing, which I have been involved with for eight years, during which I also helped with training new members. Additionally, I taught Chinese at my university's Language Exchange Club for over two years.
My teaching experience extends well beyond my professional placements. In addition to the aforementioned experiences, I was also a high school business management tutor for two and a half years. It was in this breadth of experiences that I realised that teaching was my calling, and I am extremely excited to combine this with my love of the Chinese language and culture.

* Teaching methodology
-Setting goals: Setting goals and learning intentions for each lesson is an effective way to help students to understand the expectations and purposes of their learning. I like to set clear goals for each lesson so it allows both the teacher and students to evaluate their learning.
- Explicit teaching: Explicitly teach the skills required to reach the learning goals and make their learning transparent.
- Using examples and multiple practices/repetition: Using multiple examples and give students to have multiple opportunities to practise support students' skill acquisition in the new skill or language they are learning
- I also like to use fun cultural experiences to enhance/stimulate language learning interest and improve the learning experience. I have planned and implemented activities relating to the Mid-autumn festival (role-play, group activity), Chinese Lion Dance (groups activities), Chinese Kungfu sessions.

-Each session is normally one hour during placement experience
- Typically Two hours sessions hosting at Language Exchange Club
-One to two hours during private and group tutoring base on students' needs.

-Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University of Melbourne
- 2.5 years of Chinese teaching experience at Melbourne University Language Exchange club (LEC)
- 2.5 years of Business Management tutoring experience at Elite Education
-3 years of Kungfu coaching experience at Melbourne University Martial Arts Academy
