About Ryan
I graduated from The University of Bristol in 2024, being awarded the Degree of Master of Engineering in Engineering Mathematics with First Class Honours. I won the ‘Best MENG Student Prize’ for the highest overall grade in my cohort. My earlier qualifications include A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics at A-level and GCSE level.

I offer maths tutoring at KS3, GCSE, A-level, Degree and foundation year level. My subjects include Core Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanics and Engineering. My online tutoring sessions are interactive, engaging and informal. I encourage developing intuition while having fun alongside learning. I conduct sessions through video calls hosted on Google Meet (no set-up required, you just need a Gmail account). I use an online whiteboard to demonstrate written work and share learning materials. If you have a digital tablet and pen you can also write on this whiteboard during sessions, but this is absolutely not a requirement! Sessions are typically 1 hour, but longer sessions can be arranged.
Understanding is key to success in mathematics. For many reasons, students can have gaps in their understanding that will cause difficulties unless addressed. I prioritise finding and overcoming these gaps. Once concepts have clicked, it's time to build familiarity and confidence with lots of practice. I typically go through questions from real past exams, developing good exam techniques in the process. I also welcome students to bring their own class work to the sessions, so we can focus on specific questions that they have struggled with. Optionally, I can provide targeted practice questions to be completed between sessions, which can greatly improve the rate of progress. I believe that everyone is mathematically capable, but learning methods are not one-size-fits-all. Through a variety of approaches, some patience and your persistence I can help you achieve your desired outcome, whether it's passing, improving or scoring top marks.
