About Sonam

I am a pimary school teacher with more than 8 years experience.Having worked with children from abusive families and parents of drug & alcohol abuse in the John McCormack Middle School, Boston, Massachusetts I have developed the patience and understanding to work withchildren from different backgrounds.

I have also learnt to employ teaching methods that involve both the right and left brain. It is just as important to exploit the visual and creativitiy of the right brain if we want to have lasting effects on the child's educational development.

After working at John McCormack I went on to work with more advanced children in South East Asia. This was my way of exploring the different methodological and strategical teaching experiences.

Finally, I find myself in Australia where I would like to contribute my knowledge to the learning of children. I'd like to leave my legacy behind through the kids that I teach and the lives that I touch in the process of making them better adults.

About the lesson

I personally divide my tutoring experience into 3 different phases -

GRAMMAR & VOCABULARY
Grammar and Vocabulary are an important part of a child's English reading and writing skills. The bigger their vocabulary the better their self expression. This indirectly affects their overall communication pattern.

CREATIVE WRITING
Creative writing has rules and sometimes it is important to lay the groundwork before a child enters highschool. This makes them trained in essay writing and having this familiarity often means they have a headstart as compared to other children in their class.

COMPREHENSION
While some teachers only focus on a child's ability to express themselves it is important to also share the time spent understand literature. The art of understanding different texts is just as important in communication as it is in academics.

In my classes we will touch all these three divisions equally as I believe they are integral to the English language.
