About Rhys
My lessons are designed to make math feel alive and full of possibilities. Every topic is approached with curiosity and creativity. Algebra becomes a tool for solving real-life problems. Calculus is explored through vivid visualizations that make change and motion easy to grasp. Geometry comes to life through hands-on constructions that show patterns and relationships. Probability is learned through playful games that make risk and chance exciting. I believe in building a strong conceptual framework, not just memorizing formulas. Each lesson blends explanation with exploration, so learning feels active and rewarding. Students are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, and think critically. This approach helps them see how math works, why it matters, and how it connects to their interests. I’m especially skilled at guiding learners who want to excel in data-driven careers or actuarial fields. Lessons are tailored to their goals, with a focus on building the problem-solving mindset they need. Each session is a journey of discovery, where understanding grows naturally and confidence follows. The aim is simple—helping every student not only improve their skills but also enjoy the process of learning math. Together, we work towards mastery and a lasting appreciation for the subject.

I’m a Math tutor with over 7 years of teaching experience and an MSc in Computational Mathematics. My passion lies in helping non-STEM majors discover that math is not an intimidating wall of numbers, but a rich landscape of ideas and connections. I take a holistic approach, focusing on understanding the “why” behind concepts rather than overwhelming students with endless calculations.
In my lessons, complex theories become approachable through everyday analogies and real-life examples. I often bring in historical context to show how mathematical ideas shaped cultures, discoveries, and the world we live in. I highlight the big ideas behind theorems so students see the beauty in the structure, not just the mechanics.
I’ve worked extensively with liberal arts students, humanities scholars, and individuals determined to move past math anxiety. Together, we replace fear with curiosity and frustration with clarity. My goal is to create an environment where questions are celebrated and understanding grows naturally.
Math, to me, is a universal language that speaks across disciplines and backgrounds. It can illuminate patterns in literature, guide artistic design, and reveal truths in history. I want my students to leave with not only stronger skills but a deeper appreciation of math’s role in the world. With patience, creativity, and encouragement, I’m here to help you build lasting confidence and see mathematics as a lifelong ally.
