About Amanda
Hi there! I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. I’m Amanda, and I’m passionate about helping children discover the joy and confidence that comes with reading and writing. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, with a minor in Mathematics, and have had the privilege of working in a variety of educational settings, both rural and urban, across grades K–6. I’m currently in the final semester of my Master’s in Literacy Education, where through clinical experience I discovered my true passion: helping students build a strong foundation in literacy that will support their long-term academic success, especially those who need extra support in reading and writing.
Most of my classroom experience is with children ages 4–7, but I’ve also worked extensively with students in grades K–6, providing one-on-one tutoring, assessing literacy and math skills, and designing and implementing targeted interventions. I have experience supporting children from diverse backgrounds, including those facing academic challenges, behavioral needs, and social-emotional difficulties. In addition to my classroom experience, I also have virtual clinical experience in designing and implementing personalized interventions for elementary students in phonics, fluency, word work, and writing. My teaching approach is personalized to the student's interests, rooted in empathy, and focused on building trust, confidence, and the specific skills each child needs to grow.
I know that every child is different, and I truly believe in meeting your child where they are. Whether it’s through fun games, interactive activities, or using decodable texts, I strive to create a space where your child can build confidence, feel successful, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I take pride in providing a safe, respectful environment where your child can feel heard, understood, and encouraged to take risks in their learning.
I look forward to being apart of your child's academic journey!

I offer one-on-one, personalized tutoring for elementary students in reading, writing, and math. My sessions are designed to support students in grades K–5, with a special focus on early readers and those who benefit from extra support or intervention. Each session is tailored to your child’s specific needs and interests to make learning meaningful, fun, and effective.
Each session typically includes a check-in or quick assessment, explicit instruction, interactive practice, and a brief wrap-up to reflect on progress and celebrate wins- big or small.
For reading and writing, I rely on research-based techniques that focus on phonemic awareness, letter-sound relationships, blending, segmenting, morphological awareness and spelling strategies. I integrate decodable texts, expository texts, UFLI (Universal Foundations of Literacy Instruction) activities, and interactive games to keep the lessons dynamic and engaging while reinforcing key concepts.
Most importantly, I believe in creating a warm, supportive environment where students feel safe, seen, and proud of what they’re learning. If you're looking for a tutor who will meet your child with empathy, structure, and encouragement, I’d love to partner with you in their learning journey. Please feel free to reach out for more details or to schedule a free consultation!

Before I started working with Miss Amanda, I didn’t like reading at all. I always thought I was bad at it, and it made me nervous in school. But she explains things in a way that makes sense and we do games and fun activities that make reading way more fun. My teacher is really nice, patient, and never makes me feel bad if I mess up. She’s the best!
Amanda has been an absolute gift to our family. We have been working with her for a few years now and are blessed to have found her! My daughter, Lily, is dyslexic and had always struggled with reading, which deeply impacted her confidence. From the very first session, Amanda created a space where Lily felt safe, supported, and seen. She brings such warmth, empathy, and patience to her teaching and somehow makes every lesson fun and engaging, even when the work is hard. Over time, I watched my daughter’s self-esteem grow, and her identity as a reader completely shift. She no longer says she ‘can’t read’… she tells people she’s learning to read, and she’s proud of it. Amanda is not just a tutor; she’s a wonderful teacher and mentor. Amanda has a gift in making reading fun and successful!
Amanda has been a wonderful tutor for my kids! She’s patient, encouraging, and knows exactly how to keep lessons fun and engaging. My kids are 8 and 6 and we first started working with Amanda through her university, but we decided to continue over the summer to help our kids retain the skills they had learned. Our children’s confidence and fluency have improved so much. Highly recommend!
Amanda is the most patient, kind, and compassionate teacher and the best tutor for my kids! Having seen her work firsthand, I can confidently say she creates an engaging and positive learning environment. my kids loved attending their tutoring sessions, and I saw quickly changes in their confidence and reading skills.
