About Anya
My name is Anya, I'm 21 years old and I'm a third year university student doing a BA (hons) in French and Film Studies, at the University of Leeds. I achieved all As at A-Level, in History, English Literature and French, in 2021. I also achieved all 9s in these same subjects at GCSE level, in 2019. In English, I have studied a range of Shakespeare, Gothic fiction, poetry such as Plath and Hughes, and more complex work such as John Milton's "Paradise Lost." I've studied a range of high-level literature in the French language, including classics such as "Thérèse Raquin," and more modern books like "Les paroles de terre en larmes". I enjoy art, music and film greatly, and believe these tools can be very beneficial when used alongside academic subjects, especially those which are writing-based. I lived in Québec, Canada, for 4 months, gaining my ski instructor qualification, and using my French speaking skills daily. I am currently spending my year abroad in Lyon as an English Language assistant.

I'm able to teach using flexible methods that are personalised to each student, according to what works for them and makes them most comfortable. I'm also keen for students to tell me what their goals are, so we can work together to achieve that, and create a framework for our sessions together. I can help pupils develop sustainable revision methods, and help them both prepare for exams, and better their understanding of a subject more broadly. Skills I can help with- - Beginner essay writing. - Advanced Essay writing to achieve the top band of marks. - French essay writing. - French grammar, pronunciation and speaking skills. - Verb conjugation. - Reading comprehension and comparative literature. - Creative writing and spelling. Working with pupils at a range of ages, from primary school up until A-Level - Each session is a minimum of one hour, and a maximum of two.
