About Victoria
Victoria Reeve (PhD UniMelb, MA UTAS) is an Australian literary critic and theorist. She has taught literary and cultural studies at universities in Australia and overseas and published in scholarly peer-reviewed journals and books. You can check out Victoria's scholarly publications online by googling her name (hint: not the make-up artist, the other one). Victoria writes a blog, Literary Theory for Creative Writers, and offers free online courses for writers on her website, "a house made of wood Writing Academy." She's also a judge on an international writing competition and can give writers unique insights into what judges look for in a submission. As a literary critic, Victoria offers insights into how to take your critical thinking skills to the next level and write in ways that will ignite your passion for literature and engage and persuade your markers. If you want a teacher who can inspire and motivate you to achieve your best as a writer, look no further. Victoria has coached four writers to achieve significant milestones in recent months, with one shortlisting and longlisting in two major international writing competitions, two winning entries in short story competitions, and one signed with an agent. If you're studying literature, you need someone with the credentials and track record in academic teaching, research, and writing, to guide you in your learning and approach to academic writing. Victoria is an enthusiastic and helpful mentor who loves seeing students advance their knowledge and academic skills.

I help you think about your research and writing projects and guide you in planning and writing. As a literary critic, I offer insights on discussing your chosen text/s, what to think about, where to find research material, and how to formulate an argument. For PhD and Masters candidates, I can fill the gaps in your supervisory experience by giving you meaningful feedback and encouragement. For creative writers, having your very own literary theorist teaching theory for writers will give you strategies for outlining, identifying relevant thematic material, working with genre, and writing. Lessons are typically 30 to 40 minutes, depending on whether written material has been provided for feedback. Who am I? I hold a PhD in literary studies and an MA in creative writing. I've taught literary and cultural studies in Australia (at Melbourne Uni and ACU) and overseas as a senior lecturer in literary studies supervising RHD students. My experience, knowledge, and expertise will help you fast track your learning and achieve academic success.

Perfect! Victoria was a wonderful help to me through my last year of high school, helping me to tackle the checkpoints of a large assignment from creative direction to final edits and referencing. I felt comfortable and engaged from our very first session. I highly recommend working with her!

Victoria’s expert advice and critiques have been invaluable for my writing. She has a way of hitting the nail on the head and seeing things in your work that help elevate it to that next level. Writing a novel can be such an isolating process, and it’s often hard to find people who can give you the kind of substantiated feedback you need. It’s been wonderful having Victoria provide both positive reinforcement (she will always take the time to tell you what’s working) as well as detailed constructive criticism and clear direction on how to improve. Her editing isn’t just about the words, or even the structure ... it’s about the whole reader experience and how your writing might make others feel.
Victoria is a phenomenal teacher with a deep and profound knowledge of what makes texts work. She is kind and honest, and her advice makes you a better writer. It’s as simple as that. I wholeheartedly recommend her and feel privileged to learn from her.
Victoria is an amazing teacher. She’s kind, patient and has great insight into what you need to do to take your work to the next level.
Her criticism is always constructive and she has really helped me refine my writing process.
With her help, I’ve attracted agent interest and been placed in four literary prizes. I cannot recommend Victoria highly enough- she’s a miracle worker.I have been a student of Victoria’s for the last few months. She is an amazing teacher and is very dedicated to her students. She is patient and gives constructive criticism that will greatly improve your writing. I highly recommend her.
Dr. VICTORIA R. is passionate about learning and teaching. She goes out of her way to assist her learners. I have been her PhD student and I found her very considerate and accommodating. She is well versed with her subject content and goes beyond her call of duty to assist her learners.
